Maloney Informational Open Houses for Prospective Students and their Families:

Application Period: February 2026
Application Portal (*all applications must be submitted online): THE LINK WILL BE AVAILABLE ON 2/1/26.
Applications will be accepted for students who will be in Grades Pre-K 4 through Grade 5 in the 2026-27 school year.

Application Qualifications: 
Children entering kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year must turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026.   
All eligible Pre-K applicants must be turning 4 years of age by September 1, 2026.
•      There is no bussing provided for Maloney Waterbury Pre-K students.
•      Student is eligible for a seat only in the grade they apply for.
•      You must list the town you live in at the time that you apply (Proof of Residence will be required, if you are accepted).  If you move from that town, after the application period is over, you must be able to provide proof that you lived in that town at the time of application.
•      Current Grade 5 students cannot be considered siblings as they will not be in the school when the child you are applying for enters.
•      You will be asked if your child has a sibling at Rotella or Maloney. A sibling is a biological brother or sister residing in the same household.  Nieces, nephews, and cousins will not be considered as a sibling.  Half brothers and sisters as well as step brothers or sisters must be living within the same home.
•      If you get a seat, we will contact you by phone and email.  Please check your voicemails and emails regularly.  It is your responsibility to notify us if your phone or email changes. If you don’t respond in the allowed time, we will go to the next student on the wait list and the seat will no longer be available to you.
•      If you apply for seats at both schools, once you accept a seat, your name comes off of the other school’s wait list.
•      If you are from Waterbury and applying for kindergarten, you must also register at the Family Intake Center (in case your child does not get into the magnet school).
•      Students who are accepted from towns outside of Waterbury must still register their child with their town of residence.

Lottery Drawing:
•       Lottery date: February 1, 2026 – February 28, 2026
•      Lottery numbers will not be issued at this time
•      Applicants will be notified of their wait list number via email.
